US FOMC: Winding up for September [Flash]
- The FOMC’s July meeting delivered few changes, as expected.
- Chair Powell emphasized the preeminence of Covid-19 in determining the path of the economy, as well as cited high-frequency data that indicate a slowdown in the pace of recovery.
- The Fed Chair also confirmed that the Committee will wrap up deliberations on its framework review in the “near future”, but refrained from sharing further details on possible strategy and forward guidance changes.
- We continue to see the FOMC concluding its framework review by September and announcing both a move to average inflation targeting and outcome-based forward guidance tied to realized inflation.
