“The July PMI surveys signalled a mild acceleration in the rate of expansion in global output, halting the decelerating trend seen during the second quarter. Positive steps were taken by both the manufacturing and service sectors, which saw rates of expansion tick higher. However, there also remain a number of worrying pockets of contraction, such as Asia manufacturing and the Brazilian economy, which need to recover if global growth is going to accelerate further in the second half of the year.”
